Hope for Lives Ruined by Sin

Sin devastates lives, destroys relationships, and steals hope, but there is hope for those whose lives have been ruined by sin.

Part 42: The Promise of Heaven (John 14:1-3)

In the midst of the disciples' anxiety, Jesus gives them a hope that goes beyond anything they will suffer in the future. It's the same hope that sustains Christians today when they're suffering. That hope is heaven!

Hope.

Following our Great Shepherd gives us hope not only for this lifetime, but for eternity!

Part 41: The Cross and the Glory of God (John 13:31-38)

Jesus prepares his disciples for the monumental changes that are coming because of His death on the cross. The disciples, however, are disturbed because Jesus tells them that they cannot go where He is going.

The Resurrection

If the resurrection of Jesus is true, then everything about the gospel is true. If the resurrection isn't true, then nothing about the gospel is true. How do we know the resurrection was real and what does it mean for us!

Abundance

It's so easy to get caught up obsessing over and complaining about the things we lack and lose sight of the fact that we live in a great abundance of everything the really matters when we follow our Great Shepherd.

Part 40: Belief and Betrayal (John 13:18-30)

Jesus knew that Judas was going to betray him. That foreknowledge helps us have an even deeper faith in Him because it means that the events of Jesus' death didn't happen TO him, He was in control the entire time.

Confidence

Everyone has to walk through dark valleys in life. It's unavoidable. The good news for the believer is that they don't have to walk through those valleys alone. Knowing that the Good Shepherd is near gives us confidence in spite of the valley.

Purpose

Not only does our Shepherd give us contentment and peace, but He also offers us purpose in life.

Part 39: Washing Feet (John 13:1-17)

When the disciples began to argue about who would be the greatest in the kingdom, Jesus told them that they had everything backwards and upside down. If you want to be the greatest, you have to serve everyone. In John 13, Jesus gave a living illustration of what it means to serve.
